Concord Housing + Redevelopment Plans Major Overhaul After Purchasing Downtown Property

Concord, NH — June 1, 2016 —John Hoyt, Executive Director of Concord Housing + Redevelopment (CH+R) announced today the completed transaction to purchase the aging property at 35 Concord Street, Concord, New Hampshire. The two-family home, which was bought out of foreclosure during an absolute auction by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), features 1900 square feet of living space. CH+R will undertake extensive renovations to the building’s interior and exterior, the result of which will be transforming this underperforming property into much needed market-rate housing in Concord.

“This property, which was built in 1885, has seen better days and has been in need of modernizing for quite some time. We are excited to have the opportunity to renovate and upgrade this structure and once again have it be a valuable piece of the Concord landscape.” says John Hoyt, Concord Housing + Redevelopment’s Executive Director.

Substantial renovations planned will bring the property to today's building codes. CH+R will update the heating and electrical systems; apply new siding and new roof; and completely gut and rehab the interior space. "The majority of the work will be provided by Concord area contractors,” says Hoyt. "Our in-house construction staff will perform the bulk of the work in conjunction with trusted vendors."

Area realtor, Beth Vignati, EXIT Realty Great Beginnings, located at 6 Garvins Falls Road, Concord, NH, brokered the real estate transaction.
