Concord Housing + Redevelopment celebrates the opening of Parmenter Place.
City’s Newest Affordable Housing Is Excellent Living Option for Many.

CONCORD, NH — Concord Housing + Redevelopment has celebrated the opening of Parmenter Place with a ribbon cutting ceremony on Thursday, September 16th at 4:00 p.m. Concord Mayor Jim Bouley and other local dignitaries were on-hand for the event.

Parmenter Place is located at 15 Parmenter Street in North Concord and is the city’s newest offering in affordable homes. Parmenter Place is a beautiful new rental community located just minutes from downtown Concord. The homes provide the ideal combination of living space, amenities, convenience and affordability. Parmenter Place consists of 25 two-bedroom or three-bedroom townhouse style rental homes.

“The homes at Parmenter Place are affordable, livable and sustainable,” said John Hoyt, Concord Housing + Redevelopment’s Executive Director. “This is the best in new, cost-effective, market designed housing at market rates. We are thrilled to be able to help people move into these beautiful homes. It is our belief that everyone who works hard deserves the chance to live at a place like Parmenter. This is an exciting day for the residents of Concord who are looking for housing options that weren’t available just a few years ago.”

The Parmenter Place homes include an on-site community liaison, 24/7 emergency maintenance, and rental rates that include heat and hot water. All units have fully applianced kitchens, on-site laundry, carpeted living areas, trash disposal and more.

The homes are Energy Star certified. Parmenter Place has received $30,000 in Energy Star rebates from Unitil. These rebates help to offset costs associated with energy efficient construction. The rebates also help future residents of Parmenter Place control their energy use and costs.

“Parmenter Place is a celebration of local Concord businesses,” said Ari Pollack, Concord Housing + Redevelopment’s Board Chairman. “The entire project was conceived, designed, financed and constructed by qualified local businesses. It’s the best of both worlds – we’ve created affordable housing for people who need it, and the work was done by our area business owners. Parmenter Place has boosted Concord’s economy, and will give many people who need an affordable place to live a place to call home.”

“Concord’s own North Branch Construction provided quality craftsmanship, which will be a hallmark of their work for years to come” says Hoyt. “We could not have been more pleased with the dedicated crew and the ease in which the project took shape.”

Parmenter Place was designed by Burnell-Johnson Architects, and was financed in part by Merrimack County Savings Bank.

At Thursday’s ceremony, Executive Director John Hoyt presented recognition awards to Tom Avallone and Steve Duprey. Avallone and Duprey are stepping down from the Board of Commissioners after a combined eleven years of service.

Concord Housing + Redevelopment has been administering housing programs for nearly 50 years, through federal funding from the Department of Housing & Urban Development. The organization owns or manages almost 500 units of housing in Concord and Penacook. The organization’s mission is to advocate, develop, operate and manage affordable housing programs for families in a manner that promotes economic independence for its residents.
